Schoolyard

An important part of the learning children do at East Harbor Montessori is
done outdoors. Older children tend to be fascinated by our backyard chickens, which live in the bright red coop. Everyone loves to pick berries from our raspberry, blackberry, and gooseberry bushes. Our vegetable garden allows for plenty of learning opportunities. It's fun to
watch children experience new foods, which they will eagerly try when they have helped grow it. With several bird feeders and bird houses around the yard we are able to observe many different species of birds each day.

The beginnings of a snack fresh from the garden.
We anxiously await for the ripening of raspberries.

Learning in the garden.
Beans from the garden picked by little hands and soon to be enjoyed in a lunch.
